Distinguished Speaker Series: Grace Bauer

On Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 7:00 pm, Grace Bauer

Grace Bauer
Grace Bauer is a bi-coastal interior designer, chef and cookbook author. She has worked with hospitality and restaurateurs throughout the country, in the Bahamas and in Beirut as president of Bauer Interiors, a commercial interior design firm based in New Orleans. Grace's life changed drastically when Hurricane Katrina struck the Crescent City in 2005.
After weathering the brunt of the storm, she and her family learned that recovery efforts would take years, not months. So after more than 60 years in New Orleans, she left her home--and her successful commercial interior design company-to start a new chapter in Los Angeles. It was in Los Angeles that she formalized the culinary training passed down from her grandmother and mother and registered for school at the Cordon Bleu / Kitchen Academy. Grace completed her Cordon Bleu externship at one of New Orlean's oldest and most revered restaurants, Arnaud's. Working with the pastry chef, the saucier and the lines and stations for the 1000 seat restaurant was a trial by fire, but it all the more stoked her passion for creating good food. Recently Grace turned her attention to discovering the Los Angeles culinary landscape, letting her sweet tooth be her guide, and the result is the book, "Los Angeles Classic Desserts". A very sweet evening is in store for you with Grace.
